Abreu is Northeastern’s first commit of the 2025 high school class. He is a 6’3″ combo guard who is from right here in Massachusetts. He plays his high school ball for Phillips Andover academy and his club ball for Mass Rivals. He averaged 20 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 47% from the floor, and nearly 40% from beyond the arc in his junior season for Phillips Andover and helped lead his underdog team to the NEPSAC Class A title game. New England Recruiting Report ranked Abreu 12th in the state as of January 2024, prior to his tournament heroics.

Abreu profiles as a scoring guard at the next level, demonstrating the moves to get to the basket and score from a variety of angles, plus the ability to shoot from well beyond the high school three point line both off the pass and off the bounce. He does have a bit of an unorthodox shooting motion that uses a low release point, which may require adjustment.

It must have been love at first sight for Abreu, as he committed to NU just a day after officially receiving an offer. In his decision to commit, Abreu cited the ability for friends and family to come to his games, Northeastern’s strong academics, Coach Coen’s strong reputation in basketball circles, and the city vibes of Boston.
