Commits

Damian Jung

Jung is Northeastern’s first commit of the 2026 high school class. A 6’11”, 215 pound center/forward, he is originally from Bad Kreuznach, Germany, but has been playing high school ball in the United States. Jung has previously played for Stafford High School in East Texas and will be playing this year for Eastern High School in Louisville, Kentucky.

He displays fantastic agility for a player of his age and height. Jung is able to sprint down the court in transition at a level that many high level forwards and centers would be jealous of, drive to the hole with finesse, and reposition in the paint to get himself an ideal look at the rim. He even puts up an occasional HS length three with a fluid shooting motion. While his footwork is a work in progress, it’s impossible to judge his consistency with the available footage, and he isn’t likely to be a volume shooter, he shows great promise as a unique offensive weapon.

The main draw for Jung, however, is his defense. His 6’11” frame and great bounce make him a shot-blocking machine and his agility should give him the ability to be more than just a rim protector, allowing him to defend on the perimeter as well. The one issue for Jung on defense could be his weight, as he is currently listed at just 215 lbs and is clearly skinnier than most CAA centers. He may need to bulk up a bit to go head to head with them in the post, though hopefully not at the expense of his agility and speed. This could also help him parlay his solid natural rebounding instincts into greatness on the glass.

Jung committed to NU on Oct 11, choosing Coach Coen’s squad over Eastern Illinois and Portland State. Looking forward to watching him with the Huskies next season!
